Lucy Kiehl, Age 5 | Neuroblastoma

Lucy is a 5 year old sweetheart with a huge personality. She was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in April of 2017 at 7 months old, but never let it slow her down! During treatment Lucy would scoot around and cover as much distance as possible, even with an IV or feeding tube attached. She is currently in Kindergarten and loves music, dancing and spending time with her big sister Noelle!

Cancer was never anything we expected to experience in our family, but it’s something that happened. Throughout this diagnosis we have had our time of grieving, but we have used this experience to come closer as a family, to give Lucy the positive environment she needed to fight through. Lucy is in remission, but we know cancer is an ongoing fight and we know no matter what, cancer will never break us. Your participation is crucial to helping other children like Lucy get the best and most effective treatment!

Think about all the smiling faces you have helped while your run or walk!

Jagger says that fighter cancer has made him a stronger person.  His family’s motto is “Just keep swimming.”

“To those still battling cancer, keep on fighting.  To those running and walking, you inspire us to keep fighting.”

Hanna, 7 | Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL)

Hanna was diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) back in April 12, 2016.  Hanna had been getting sick off and on for about 4 months and would never fully recover from whatever virus her Dr. said it was.  She would get a better with antibiotics but a few weeks later be sick again.  The finally did a blood test at the Dr. and told us to take her straight to Cardon Children’s.  The did all the blood tests etc. and after being admitted to the hospital a day later they told us our daughter has CANCER.  Our entire life was turned upside down and will never be the same again.  We were very thankful to learn that ALL is the most curable form of cancer however, it’s one of the longest treatment plans.  We started in April of 2016 and not due to complete chemo and treatment until June of 2018.  Over the course of a year we have learned so much and come so far.  We have some very high high’s and some low low’s.  We have made the most wonderful relationships and even become closer as a family.  We have become very humble and have learned to be very patient.  Funny how life throws you a curveball and you become a better person and stronger because of it.  The nurses, doctors, family services, right down to the cafeteria personnel sat Cardon Children’s have made us feel like family through a very tough journey.  The Cancer Network, Hope Kids, Make a Wish have overwhelmed us with kindness and help.  When you first hear those words your child has cancer you feel so alone and scared.  All these wonderful people have made Hanna’s journey so much easier and happier.  Our 7 year old daughter has become our HERO!  There is no way we could endure the pain and sickness she has.  She does it with a smile on her face and a sprit and personality like no other.  Hanna Renee Lynn Harper will beat this terrible disease and have learned many life lessons along the way.  Hanna will always be “Our Little Warrior”!

Hozhoonii, Age 12, Acute Leukemia

Hozhoonii was diagnosed with Leukemia.  She says that her journey has been hard, but her cancer does not stop her from doing her favorite hobbies such as reading and homework.  The most important people in her life are her family because they take care of her and watch over her.  Hozhoonii says she has learned much about cancer including new medical terms and how medications work.

“I hope it’s over soon.”

Dulce Melisa (Mely), 12 | Diagnosed age 3 (now 12) with Lymphoma Leukemia (ALL)

In remission for 7 years!

“Mely is a warrior, a little person fighting for her life”!

Leukemia was the most terrifying word you could hear when Mely was diagnosed at age 3.  We felt fear, anguish and sadness.  We felt helpless as we did not know how to get Mely out of the situation.

We hoped the doctor’s diagnosis was wrong, we thought our world had collapsed.

Our little girl had to take so much medicine at a time, but we did not lose faith.  We thank the doctor who knew our daughter would be well, and thank God, she has remained in remission for 7 years.

“We all have to keep celebrating life”.

“Thank you to CHAMP for helping us fight,  and informing so many people”.  (Mom)

Ben, Age 9 | Non-Hodgkin (B-Cell Burkitt) Lymphoma

My cancer journey has been longer than I thought and very hard.  I have got lots of toys to make it better.  I wake up at night and get bored because I have nothing to do.

When I grow up, I want to be a firefighter because my dad was one, and a pastor because I like to read the Bible. I love thrills and want to go to Knottsberry Farm to go on Silver Bullet.

“After the first couple of months are over, the hard part is done!”

Allie, Age 9 | High Risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Allie was diagnosed with leukemia on October 16, 2016.  She loves dance, gymnastics, soccer, playing at Lake Powell (her backyard), playing with her friends, and spending time with her family.  Allie’s diagnosis was an instant life changer.  We live 4.5 hours one way from Cardon Children’s Medical Center, needless to say, it has definitely changed our family.  Cancer is an emotional roller coaster.  We sleep, eat, breathe, and live cancer.  Cancer children are amazing, special people!  Good luck and keep fighting hard!
